The other day my g/f bought me Quake 4, well.... considering I have upgraded everything but my Processor and Mobo, it was a bit choppy (not exactly playable on a daily basis) =/ So, with that said, I am upgrading my computer one last time, for you PC geeks who know a few things, I would like some info on this setup. This is the processor/mobo combo I have my eye on... www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1965135&Sku=MBM-A8V-3500This is the RAM I will be buying..... www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1071020&Sku=ULT31664If I buy this setup, my key aspects will be... RAM - 1792 MB (1Gig+?) (i don't know RAM calculation, but I already have 768 Mb of RAM) Processor - 2.20GHz Video - Geforce 256 6200 OverClock Max Resolution - 1280 x 1024 Sound - I plan on using onboard sound for the time being, it's 8 channel so eh, yea... I guess this is decent? Not sure, I havent kept up with the PC industry in awhile, input plz ?

Well if you buy cheap ram you get cheap ram. Cheap ram is not overclockable. I thought I had good 90$ ram sticks until I wanted to oc my system. And actaully I found my system ran better with my 1 gig of good ram overclocked, then it did with 1.5 gig stock (because the 512 stick was too cheap to overclock. If you won't overlock I assume it might not matter, but if you wanna push your system you MUST HAVE good ram. I have been looking at this ram kit. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820146970Also to overlock the ram modules have to match or it won't work right. I will ganna say more but got distracted and forgot, I will edit when I remember

O yah...the lower the time settings the better example 3-3-5 is better then 3-3-8
Lower numbers = tighter settings higher numbers =looser settings
the lower the numbers the more expensive the ram...it's actaully the main reason price flucuates so much
and if the times are not listed then it's obviously high

Another question, I basically thought of everything when buying all of this EXCEPT the most important part.... A Processor fan. I don't exactly know a whole lot about cooling products or installing them, The very first time I started building my computer (4 years ago) I bought a Mobo/Processor combo from a place here called CPU so they installed the CPU and the fan, therefore I really dont know what to buy since they made the decision on the fan. I understand it has to be a 939 socket compatible fan but... I don't know what to buy, I don't want the most expensive or top of the line but, I do know that I don't want to have any worries about it overheating. Any Help from a fellow nerd?

I dont know much either, well i had a issue one time. I got a 7800 GTX and my comp over heated and i had to return the card. I didnt install the card it was geek squad. I found out the problem a while ago, it was the fact that my power supply was to low:) only 430 watt when i needed atleast 500 watts.

500 Watt PS is pretty big, I only use a 450 that came with my case.
