I was in Sime server and saw this:
[42]2swift ##.###.###.### (edited by Ugs: not necessary to divulge his personal IP)
> Who are you swift? > murf maybe? > i know u are from florida > [42]2swift: yeah that would make sense i put 42 in front of my name before i knew there was a clan 42 > lol > well if u don't mind could you please remove the tag? > [42]2swift: yeah i do mind actually i never claim to represent your clan > well as long as you play in a server that is operated by 42 clan you cannot wear the tag > u can change it to 43 or 42.5 for all i care > [42]2swift: You can kick me for all I care, I have better things to do then play this game > I think I will do that, and please change your tag. > Whether you say you represent us or not just by wearing the tag you are representing us

Ive seen him show up in my buddies list a few times, never actually checked to see if he was an actual 42 member tho. I honestly thought he was an old member that rarely got one, haha.

He is not a 42 member, but he talked with ugly and I and since he has not done anything we decided not to push the issue.

I should have made a post on this a long time ago but I didn't think any of us would give him a bad time because he told me that he thought 42er's were really nice. There is one now. clan42.proboards79.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=1234&thread=1147145151&page=1 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
O brother !!!!
[42]2swift is not even wearing the OFFICIAL team tag !!!!!! aaaaahhhhh !!!!!!
Not to mention, he follows our rules better than some of our members and he doesn't even know what they are!
He is a good representative of «42» whether or not he is officially "in" and he's a really cool guy. It is totally fine for him to have an open bracket, a four, a two, and a closed bracket in front of his name!!!!...You might want to apologize to him and let him know it is cool for him to play on our server.

you want someone that isnt in the guild representing us? not to mention he really isnt that good.
imo hes a prick for not changing his name, he knows it pisses alot of our members off.. and he knows it means nothing for him seeing as how hes not in the guild. if he was a real man and not a baby he would step up and remove the tag like a gentlemen.

I can kinda see your point of view Iz...however:
In the immensity of the UT community it isn't really that big of a deal if two dudes wear an Unofficial tag in front of their names. Especially since they DO well represent «42» and no ettique laws exist for unofficial tag wearing. If they were big JERKS I would definately have a problem with it.

i see what you're saying
but look at it this way.. you are wearing a tag like [iDA].. you find out that there is a weel established clan with almost exactly the same tag.. and a few of there members ask you to change it.. is it really that big of a deal for you to change it? it is making ppl mad.. and even if they do "represent" the guild well, they are not in the guild and i find it wrong that they continue to wear it. before you say "its not a big deal" obviously it is, we have multiple posts about it.

Well Ugly since you say that they do not wear the official 42 tag, then we should REQUIRE ALL members to wear the OFFICIAL tag instead of variations of the 42 tag.
And they are too stubborn to take it off or change it so it does not look like our tag. They could do [42*] just to set it apart from our tag. They are being childish and it is disrespectful.

On this I must say I agree with Kyle and Izzo, this happend to me at one point while playing CS:Source.
When I first started playing CS I made my name {Ao1}1ManArmy the Ao1 stood for Army of One, I thought it was funny. Well on the only six servers I play on there was a clan that was called Ao1 and they asked me to take off the tag, I did, and there was no problem.
I liked to tag and the name but since there was already a clan with that name, that I was not a part of, I changed the tag. Swift could do and should do the same thing.

Yeah Evil...you would think that wouldn't be a huge thing to ask of someone to change their tag...but some make it a big deal and thus appear childish. Maybe I'm too nice
As far as all 42er's wearing the Official Tag, I'm surprised all members do NOT wish to do this. It would make it easier to find everyone and track our team stats if we all wore «42»

I have to agree with Ugly on this one. This guy really isn't hurting anyone, he is not doing it on purpose to make people mad. If he honestly didnt know about Clan 42 before he made the name then I don't think he should change it.
He has the right to do w/e he wants and in my opinion it isn't hurting anyone. We don't have the right to go around on an internet game telling people what names they can/can not use, we do live in America btw, well most of us anyways. Apparently he likes his name fairly well which is the reason he wont change it, and If i were in his shoes I would make the same choice. Makes us look like a bunch of internet bullies by going around telling harmless people such as him to change his name just because he happens to like the same book this clan is based off of.
Also, there should be an "official" tag we wear, one that is forced to be in front of every clan members name. This would make things easier and somewhat prevent such issues. I don't exactly agree with having variations of our tag, seems pointless except for the fact of being different.
But..... thats just my .02¢

you shoulda kept your 2cents to yourself. My opinion is worth 5 cents I guess if you woulda talked to the guy noodle your opinion might change. He was a total prick about the whole thing. I know everyone in the world does not have common courtesy and respect and allot of people don't know how to act proper, but I do. He knows it makes us mad and he does not care, he probably would get a kick out of this thread and would probably make it a point to run into us more often just because of it.

yeah he was a prick to me also, i was the first one the see the guy (pretty sure i was) cuz kyles post was way after that point. anyway he was an @ss, this is kinda how it went
me: 2swift who are you? him: 2swift me: you arent on the members list him: yeah no sh!t i wouldnt be me: ok, do you mind taking the tag off? him: yes i do mind, i had the tag first
and this was the first time any 42 talked to him, i think at least, so i dont see why he had to be a complete @ss about it, not like he heard it all the time.

1. He had the tag innocently without knowing about the clan, so he is under no real obligation to change. 42, the answer to everything is a popular concept so I'm not surprised at all that other people use it as a tag. He can be nice and change his tag for us, but I don't think he *has to* or anything like that. 2. If we're that concerned about having the clan tag be sacred, we need to enforce an official one «42». I personally dislike the alt code characters *shrugs* .. but that's the only way you can have a better guarantee of people wearing the 42 tag being genuine members.
I actually think we're making too big a deal out of this.
