If you are writing charts in 3/8 time signature...how many 16th notes can you fit into one measure?

LoL, it's not common sense to me, I know nothing about writing music. And I only use spacing in writing because I'm to stupid to read non spaced sentences.

kk, I figured that in a clan our size that there would probably be some music theorists .... ok, maybe not...lol
I'll give the rest of the day for any responses then I'll reveal the anxiously awaited truth on the matter.

6
3/8 means an eighth note gets one beat and there is three beats per measure, hence, a sixteenth note is half a beat and there can be 6 per measure.

I was just going to say 6, but go ahead and explain it. I wasn't even sure if it was right.

We have a winner !!!!!!!
Cube & Baron were the closest ;D
Explanation:
In 3/8 time, there are 3 counts per measure and the 8th note gets one count ... therefore you can fit SIX standard notation 16th notes into one measure.
HOWEVER, there is a slight twist...kinda a trick (*grin*)...you can also have 16th notes in the form of triplets which translates into THREE 16th notes per count. In this case you can have NINE 16th notes in one measure.
So in short...
ANSWER:
NINE 16th notes per measure.
fun

Who actually makes 16th notes into triplets? I can't imagine singing that. Guess it could work for piano though. I still wanna call foul . . . kind of . . . not really. I guess 12 years in choir and I didn't learn anything. Of course I specifically tried not to learn anything, so I guess thats a job well done.

Baron,
lol...you're right, the question was meant to be a trick or to flush out the hardcore theorists ....hehehehe
You're right ! In time signatures such as 6/8 or 3/8, vocal arrangements will probably not encounter 16th note triplets but most definately would encounter 8th note triplets. However, in common time signatures like 4/4 or 2/4 the 16th note triplet is used.
On the other hand 16th note triplets are common in most any time signature for percussion and as you stated...piano. In 6/8, 3/8, 2/8, etc. the 16th note triplets may be strewn together in a group of six and will not be called "triplets" but rather "six tuplets."
Thanks for the posts
